One break, and your fancy gun becomes an expensive paint blender. I had such a horrible experience with it, I finallyJust put the stock back on. If your paint balls are flying high, then low, then off to the right even at close range, it's not worth having the added distance. If you manage to have good luck and receive no breaks, it's not bad. But....good luck on that. For the phenom, you have to take the gun pretty much apart to get the barrel out for an exceptable clean after a break. Also not very handy while in the field.

A flatline just isn't worth it, the buyer gave everything that was intended, don't get me wrong this review has nothing to do with the service it was great. But, the flatline will destroy any ball you throw through it unless your going to be putting down serious cash for high end paint. Any ball break in the barrel will spell instant death as this thing will become a ball breaking machine after just one barrel break. Finally due to the shot characteristics this barrel adds more variables that can go wrong, just stick to a good 14 inch barrel such as a lapco, or the Tippmann straight barrels and you would be better off.

At first the longer range was great, but I couldn't get it to stop breaking balls with my X7 phenom, and once you break a ball the backspin turns into a wildly crazy curve at those longer ranges. Due to that frustration I don't use this on the field anymore. I've opted for a J&J, which is not perfect, but with the right paint shoots mostly strait with very few breaks.

I was not impressed with this barrel. First off the adapter for x7 didn't fit on the barrel properly. When I fired it, it shot exactly the same as the stock barrel. With hpa and co2.I fired over 500 paintballs trying to tune it and it didn't changed. I switched to the Phenom adapter and it seemed to work better. Although it fired as far as a 16in barrel did with about the same accuracy. Still not impressed as it shoulda been more accurate and had more range which it didn't. On a good note it was shipped very fast to my door

I have owned and used flatline barrels on several of my guns over the years. My first was for my model 98 when they first developed the system. I was impressed with the first one and haven't lost that with all off the newer versions. You have the advantage on the field of a further reach with your paintballs. In woodsball they have almost become the standard to level the playing field. The A5 flatline was a great inprovement over the one for the 98. It was easier to install and was compact. The X7 version is sturdy, easy to install and looks really cool as well. One warning though. You must use paint that is in good shape. Don't try last years paint out of the closet. If your paint is misshapen or dimpled, use a straight barrel. The paint needs to take the stress of rolling down this barrel to gather it's back spin. This is stressfull to the paint shell and old paint will bust. All Flatlines are harder to clean after a break so use good paint.
