A lot of pits and scratches in the brass guard as well as some scratches in the blade. This is the second Szco blank I've purchased with scratches in the brass guard.

For the price this a pretty good deal. The knife came with a pretty sharp edge and the tang was nice and ruff ground, ready to take an epoxy to attach the scales. My one complaint is that the large hole at the bottom of the tang is a little ruff, not a big deal though, I can clean that up with a drill press. Also, the grind on the backside of the blade is a slight bit uneven. Not a big deal, but I have a pretty sharp eye for detail and I can notice it, I’ll be grinding it even most likely. I’d say this a good place to start if you are just getting into knife making. It’s high enough quality to be nice and useful when you’re done making your handle, but if you mess it up you’re not out very much money. I would recommend it.

This is my first project for custom knife handle making. Although I am no stranger to wood working. I posted the pictures for all to admire the craftsmans ship of the handle. It took me 5 day to complet the project counting the day I waited for the epoxy to cure. I figure about 20 hours spent on this project give or take a few hours. I used a belt sander, file, and vise grips to make the handles. I like this little knife because it fits almost prefect in my hands; however, if your hands are larger then it is probably not for you.
