At the current asking price of £129 this is going to be one of those items that you might automatically rule out purchasing especially when babies need so much essential expensive equipment and paraphernalia as it is. I never had anything like this for either of my babies and when I was offered the chance to review it and read up on it, I must admit my eyebrows were a bit raised.However – it turns out that this is the baby item you don’t realise you need until you have got it. Now I have seen it in action I really wish they’d have had these 20+ years ago when I had my babies. It really is magic.It’s a versatile item in that it will fit onto cots, prams and baby bouncers – anything really that has a handle / rail or frame to hang it from and is light enough to be rocked. It is so portable that it can easily be moved from the pram or moses basket downstairs to the cot upstairs at bedtime. It provides very gentle rocking – although there are different strengths. You could even take it on holiday or send it to grandparents houses when they are babysitting. I am sure if you buy this device it will be used daily.Obviously everyone knows that babies often need rocking to sleep you’ll have seen countless parents moving the pram backwards and forwards on the spot to try and lull baby back to sleep. You know they need to sleep, the baby knows they need to sleep, but the baby actually wanting to go to sleep is a different matter. Rocking motions really help but sometimes it can take hours and we don’t always have hours to do this. This extremely clever device does it for you. Once baby has been lulled back to sleep, should they stir or make a noise, the rocking will start again, this is great for the middle of the night.The app is excellent. From your smartphone, you can adjust settings, change rocking intensity, and monitor battery life without disturbing your baby. This makes it easy to customise the experience to your own baby, whether they prefer a gentle sway or a slightly more vigorous rock.The 12 hour battery life should be more than enough for one day. On a single charge this should get you through multiple naps and a good portion of the night until baby wakes up for a feed (charge it through the day when they are awake). This will really help mum and dad get some quality, uninterrupted sleep which is very important. The rocking cycle of 3 hours should be enough to lull baby back into their own deep sleep.In summary, this invention works wonders. The design of this product is very good, compact in size and is a top quality product and more than justifies the price if you ask me as the importance of sleep cannot be underestimated. Although it is currently showing as out of stock, I see there are payment options which might make purchasing it a bit more affordable, but having seen this in action and knowing how important sleep is, although this is a nice-to-have rather than a must-have, this is on the more important end of nice-to-have items and actually is a must-have if you find yourself with a baby who needs rocking to sleep.

REVIEW FROM MY DAUGHTERS P.O.V. :I’ve been using the Sleepytroll Baby Rocker Gen2 for about 2 weeks now, and it’s one of those baby gadgets that actually lives up to what it claims. Right after taking it out of the packaging, it feels well built with its aluminium body and neat, compact Scandinavian design, and there was nothing bulky or plasticky about it.Installation is simple if you’ve got the right adaptors (though a small issue is that these are sold separately). Once fitted to the pram, the rocker does a fantastic job. The motion and sound sensors are genuinely useful with no false triggers, and the device kicks in smoothly when baby stirs or fusses, giving a gentle rock for 3 minutes. It's quiet too, which is a real bonus as you don’t hear any whirring or clicking like some cheaper rockers make.The battery life really surprised me. On a single charge, it comfortably lasts a full day’s use with the odd top-up needed if you’re running it in 3-hour continuous mode via the app. Speaking of the app, it’s simple and works well. You can adjust the rocking strength and duration without having to fiddle with the rocker itself, which is handy especially when you're juggling other baby related chaos.It’s also water resistant, ideal when you get caught in light rain with the pram, and the build quality feels like it’ll hold up well. The only slight downside is that if you want to switch between crib or bouncer use, you’ll need to buy extra adaptors, which bumps the price up. This might not be the first thing you think of purchasing, especially when there are countless automatic rockers out there. Being able to attach it to most beds, chairs, prams etc makes this stand out.The automatic rocker feature when sound is detected is a game changer. It helps send the baby back to sleep meaning you can have a more restful evening!It might seem expensive, especially on top of everything else you need when having a baby but add this to your list.Our friends have recently had a baby so being offered the opportunity to try this item came at the perfect time, this has been a well received addition to the kit bag and they can't stop singing it's praises!
