Got these as a low cost option for the Ouray Ice Festival in Ouray, CO. Reviews I read seemed to indicate they would work fine for any beginning ice climber. It was only after an instructor showed me that I realized my swing wasn’t correct for this type of ice tool. It wasn’t a biggie, probably a rookie mistake. But it took a bit to learn it so I recommend purchasing and then seeking out someone experienced to help you so you don’t kill your arms when climbing!

Just finished a 3 day climbing trip to Lake City, CO with these. They are light, perfectly weighted and way cheaper than Black Diamond. I would highly recommend them.

So I currently own Grivel Tech Machines and older Trango Mantis tools. The Grivel's are excellent for hard ice and mixed routes however I was in need of all around tools for alpine use. The Bandits perform remarkably well with good geometry. I knew very little about Singing Rock with the exception of a few videos on Youtube and mostly European reviews, very happy with the performance and design put into these tools. Removable pommel and removable secondary pinky rest is nice. I feel like these are a good alternative to the very common Petzl Quarks. Picks are also around half price as compared to other companies.
