Super fast when paired with a microSD Express card. Removing the card is a bit weird. I am used to press to release for a microSD card. This doesnt seem to do that. It kinda comes out, then you have to fingernail it. Odd. You won't get the speed boost with any card though, it has to be Express.

This is the best reader-writer I have come across on my Mac, PC/Windows and Ubuntu, and even Raspberry Pi. With a Sandisk Express microSD (size 256GB), it achieves astounding speeds. Screenshot here is a 1GB stress test for the Mac, which achieved over 1000MB/s on writes, and around 750MB/s on reads. For larger size files (5GB stress test) both speeds approach 800MB/s, exactly as the device package claims. The same express card on my second-best reader (a Dockteck hub that supports UHS-I and UHS-II) hit around 90-100MB/s on a sustained 5GB stress test using the Express card. Drive imaging via dd on MacOS and Linux, with some fine-tuning, were able to hit 400MB/s sustained. Using UHS cards, an older but widely available standard with two variants, I saw speeds of 200MB/s sustained using this reader. It significantly improved the performance of every device I hooked it to, including some that had built-in card readers claiming to be Express ready, and the performance improved even for standard cards. I tested it with Samsung (Pro and Evo), Sandisk (Ultra, Extreme, and Extreme Plus), and lower grade cards. It supports a wide range of sizes, including terabyte cards, and speeds up the largest cards nicely. A Samsung 128GB card that came bundled in a Raspberry Pi kit went from 16MB/s on my mac to 200MB/s sustained throughput, a HUGE time-saver. It's currently priced well for a cutting edge product, and the time saved along make it worth the price. Express cards will be the standard used by the Nintendo Switch 2, so they should become more common in neighborhood stores very soon. There's really only one thing you need to be aware of: it does take a little bit of juice to run this thing, and behavior will be erratic on writes (think momentary stalls) if your device's port cannot supply more than 600mA. The Raspberry Pi 5b, for example, supports 600mA max output across all four of its USB ports, but write performance suffered if I connected this device and a plain bus-powered USB mouse at the same time. Using a bluetooth or wireless mouse was fine, however. On the mac, the device draws just over 300mA reading and just under 350mA writing. With card inserted, it draws about 150mA when idle and 80mA when all cards are removed, a nice feature.

Ottimo lettore professionale. Fa il suo lavoro. Il migliore sul mercato anche se il prezzo è decisamente alto. Buona qualità costruttiva e ottima velocità di lettura e scrittura. Non potete trovare di meglio. Consigliato. Sandisk non delude

To be honest I had high hopes for this given how it’s always marketed alongside any SanDisk SD or Micro SD card you purchase. Constantly inundated with claims of ‘reaching full transfer speeds’ if you make this additional $120 purchase. After purchasing and some use I’m relatively unsure that this little thing does much of anything as opposed to traditional SD card readers. Has transfer speeds improved? Maybe a little. But the way this is marketed you’d expect maybe a 2x speed increase over other methods. I would say this improves transfer speeds by 15-20%. Now maybe this is an error on my end and that is all they actually claim it will improve. Again I just feel like with the way they push this you’d expect a bigger improvement. Alas I again am willing to concede that perhaps it is I who had unrealistic expectations and this is of no fault to SanDisk. Just my two cents though.
