素直に読み易い英語でした。言葉の使い方ににやとしました。お正月に、楽しませてもらおうと思います。英国からエアーメールで届いたのはびっくりでした。ネットワークの広がりを実感しました。

Don't take this book to be a gospel of information on how to get into oxford or Cambridge. However it is very interesting and informative from the authors point of view. The scenarios of questions aren't necessarily right or wrong, just an opinion and an idea of how they can be answered. Plus this book gives you an idea of the broad spectrum of inquisitive questions one can be asked. Good read nevertheless.

I normally keep books I buy, but after trudging through this one in my daily bit of "bathroom" reading, it's gone straight to the charity bookshop pile. There were too many pointless questions and tedious philosophical ramblings that failed to ignite my interest and if Farndon's musings are "amid the heights of intellectual abstract thought" then I fear for the world :) If I was one of the dons asking the questions, I might have felt like thumping him to shut him up rather than admitting him to the college! It was a tad too repetitive repetitive and possibly a bit smug - which in the author's view is no bigger obstacle to cleverness. I'd rather have seen a book that showcased some of the best answers to the questions by the actual students rather than ones where the author has had the luxury of being able to take as long as he likes to respond. Overall, not bad, but certainly not good either!
