Cuts smooth, without effort. But when held steady and carefully, this 4mm domino cutter consistently cut a mortise that was sloppy vertically at the 20mm plunge depth. Multiple Festool-branded 4mm tenons easily fall out. To say the least, I should have known we're dealing with QA issues here. But why not at least try. When I swapped to a different sized Festool branded 8mm cutter, the mortise cuts were perfect again. Lessoned learned. Now, I'll be buying a real Festool 4mm as this non-festool adventure was short lived (unfortunately). Note: If the 4mm Festool branded cutter I buy next doesn't work, I'll be back to fix this review as I use a 10" CMT cabinet saw blade with not issues there. But one is not necessarily the same when we're talking mortising ops.

This performs as well as the Festool bits, at about half the cost. I have an older kit, which didn’t include the 4-mm bit, and I was doing some stair railings and needed an efficient way to set small balusters on 3.5 inch centers. The 4-mm dominoes seemed like the best solution, and I bought this bit to do it. Still sharp after over 200 holes in red oak.As the Festool bits et dull, I’ll be buying CMT bits as replacements.

Works same as Festool but without Festool price. No issues with mine
