I own the EVO which I love. But, I wanted a smaller chess computer/board with the ability to record my games as transferable pgn files for analysis. The EVO was too heavy and large to play in bed while my wife sleeps beside me, so I ordered the Go. What a GREAT DEAL!!!! The price is amazing compared to other smart boards. The build quality is excellent and doesn't feel cheap at all! It's the perfect size for travel and for late games in bed. The LED's are nice and bright and are easier to see than on the Air due to the smaller size. I love how flawlessly this board works with the app. The Chessnut app for Android is like the EVO which has the career mode which is my favorite. The other Chessnut app (not Android specific) seems to be missing the career mode. I love everything about this board, however, on mine, the strength of the magnetic pieces is not as strong as what I've seen on YouTube videos. But, it's adequate. This is the best smartboard for the money and would make a fantastic first chess computer or gift as long as the user has a smartphone to run the app. It truly is amazing and as with all Chessnut products, it runs smoothly with the app with no frustration. It's a joy to play on! I highly recommend it!

Even before I got this smart board I was using a real wood board to position chess pieces when I was playing against the computer. It gives a much better picture or visual representation than staring at a back-lit computer or smart phone screen. Plus it takes away annoyances like login or screen saver time-outs. This board, though, brings a lot of convenience and gives you more time to concentrate on the game rather than check whether the actual screen chess positions were transferred correctly to the wooden board. Every chess piece in this set has an RF ID chip in its base for correct and unique identification. Every square on the board has a small green LED which has two functions: it turns on to show you initial and final position of the next opponent move and turns off to signify that the chess piece was placed in the correct position. Initially 2 rows on each side are lit up and LEDs are turned off once you place chess pieces into the corresponding squares. Say, you accidentally swap the knight and the bishop then the respective LEDs will stay on until you swap them back into the correct arrangement. I didn’t have any issues pairing a companion app with the board over Bluetooth. You can select whether you want to play with real people or a bot. I always play with bots not to depend on anyone's schedule or availability. You can select the depth of algorithm search. You can record the game and its result for later review and stats.

I use this with Chess.com and it works great. The New Chessnut app for iOS works great. I had no issues connecting the board to my Chess.com account.I do wish that the magnets in the pieces were a little stronger, and that the provided documentation was a little better. I do love the piece recognition technology. The travel size is perfect for my needs and a nice case is included. I do recommend that you considering getting a dice bag or two for holding the pieces.

Note: Do not just power on the board and try to connect via Bluetooth to Android as in my case. Each engine can also be optimized for more advanced difficulty or easier settings, making it perfect for newcomers or veterans.
