Had this on my rear but never upgraded the front. Well this did it. Bike stops quick and is a huge upgrade. Didn’t take long to install only thing is it doesn’t have the mounting bracket. Luckily I was able to use the existing one. If you’re a casual rider this is the one for the price.

I'm doing things the wrong way round as I went from hydraulic brakes to cable, the reason was the hydraulic brakes where starting to act up and replacing them was going to be expensive, so I went cable with a cheaper brand, those where a bit time consuming to set up but worked quite well for a few months that is, then the front one failed, lucky for me not at speed, the reason was the caliper arm slipped round on the shaft, moral of this story is don't skimp on brakes. So still wanting to stay with cable I decided to go with the Avid as I already have a set on another bike and have had no problem with them. This set of Avid BB5's come without the mounts but I had them from the old set, the Avid's just bolted straight on and only needed a small amount of adjustment, they did not even need shims like the old ones, cables did not need anything done as they where long enough and just bolted straight down, so all on and adjusted up I took it out for a test ride and was really impressed, ok they are not quite as powerful as hydraulic but then they will not be as you loose pulling power through the cable, especially on the rear where the cable is longer, but they still stop really well and you have some nice modulation when pulling the lever back.Easy to adjust, I had a bit of pad rub on the none moving pad, which is another downside of cable only one side moves, so the none moving pad needs to as close as possible without rubbing, the plastic knurled knob turns easy and makes setting that up quite effortless. There is no doubt that hydraulic are better but these are a good option if you just want to keep things simple and still be able to stop, I don't really have any negatives with these, at the moment anyhow, but if I do I will be back here to up date.
