Ordered this for use with an outdoor program that I lead but after the first test use the rope started fraying in the middle and the inner portion of the rope is coming out from the outer cover. Multiple attempts have been made to contact the seller but the Amazon messaging assistant has blocked all attempts to contact the seller directly about this concern. The rope is soft but might be a little too soft since these problems arose after tossing the bag and rewinding the bag only a couple times. We were doing this to teach the proper use and techniques to throw this rope and then noticed the rope was already wearing out. The bag itself seems to be well built and works well.

I've recently started taking my canoe onto rougher waters.A good rescue throw line is a pretty important piece of gear. This one is quite nice. 70' of floating rope that is contained in a quality nylon stuff sack. The whole package is secured by a nylon strap with a quick-relase buckle.I have the line secured under the bow of my canoe where it is easy to get to, but stays out of the way until you need it.Given that this is the beginning of my adventures in white water canoeing, I may find that down the road, this throw line has some down sides. But to the untrained eye, it seems like a very high quality product. All that at an excellent price.Very highly recommended.

A throwable flotation device with a rope attached is an important safety item to have on your boat. In fact, I think that Coastguard regulations require one. I carry enough lifejackets for all on my boat, of course, but this throwline with its flotation bag is something that I can use at any time in an emergency, and for swimmers from land or another watercraft.I like that everything stows in the bag, which is compact enough at 13-inches long, not to take up much room. The bright orange color makes it easy to spot in the boat and on the water. They do recommend you practice with this so that in a clutch situation, you’ll know exactly what to do: “Open the bag, take out the loosened rope end with a non-throwing hand, throw the bag with rope stuffed at the target. Practice more with your bag before you take it on water.”It’s also important, in my experience, to practice restuffing the rope into the bag so next time you use it, the line will pay out smoothly again. The bag floats because it has an insert built in. You get 70 feet of marine rope which will bear 1,500 pounds, and yet the bundle weighs only 1.5 lbs.

- Made in China- Rope handle on one end (it secures the floaty inside the bag as well), adjustable nylon strap on the other (not long enough for shoulder carry)- Spring-clamp drawstringThe rope is a bit more loose weave than I like to see but it's still plenty sturdy, I'm just picky.Inside, the rope is nicely folded, straight, no knots. The floaty thing is secured in the bottom. The floaty thing is some kind of foam that feels like padding.Several possible ways to use this but basic is hold the end of the rope hanging out the bag and toss the bag to the person. An important tool to have anywhere around the water.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - It's an Amazon program where many everyday things you buy will generate a small donation from Amazon to the charity of your choice at no cost to you.
