Given that this is a trusted and well established brand I didn’t expect anything less than excellent quality! It has a good weight and feels comfortable and a good grip in my hand. Comes with a full reel again with high quality line. It’s a good weight and length. I find it very good value for money 💰

I requested this combo for LRF fishing in salt water, Abu have it listed as a freshwater combo but the rod has stainless guides and the reel should be fine with a freshwater rinse after use.I was a little concerned when a 6ft long box arrived looking very battered one end, but luckily the rod is just 4ft sections and was ok.My favourite rod is an ABU spin devil 40-80gram with a nice fast action so I choose the 20-60gram SX in 2.44m with a 3000 class reel thinking it should be about the same or slightly lighter.The SX feels a lot stiffer action than my older rod even though its for a lighter weight maximum lure.The rod looks nice, all black with 8 rings on the top section and just 1 on the reel holding section. The 2 sections fit together well. The reel seat is nice enough but the locking ring is forward of the reel which is opposite to what I am used to.We will have to wait for spring to test the rod in action, I hope its light enough. Oh the rod weighs 180g.The reel is a 3000 size and comes pre loaded with Abulon braid, but I have no idea what breaking strain the line is or how much is on the spool as Abu forgot to list that anywhere I can see. I see in the USA the spec is 180yds of 10LB braid fills the spool.The reel feels nice and smooth with 6+1 ball bearings, you can set the handle to right or left hand wind, it weighs 245gram but I think the money is all in the rod, the reel has no switch for turning off anti reverse and the handle design is one that you need to unscrew the main shaft to fold it when packing away. I much prefer handles that stay firmly anchored to the reel and have a button on the crank to fold the handle away.That's the problem with buying a combo, you cant choose the reel that comes with the rod.

This is a fantastic quality rod. My son and I are beginners at this and have found this really easy , simple and effective to use. Would highly recommend.
