After spending several hours retrieving a small item from my Tiguan under-seat air duct I decided to look for some covers.The Akemaio ABS Car Under Seat Air Vent Cover is a good solution.The cover is a thin but functional and durable plastic. The surface finish is good and the colour even. The dimensional fit is also good.FITTING: Fitting was easy and took only a few minutes. There was no need to use any glue or double sided tape to fix in place. I fitted one cover without any tools.I was able to push the cover in place by lining up the edges and pushing into the carpet. Some small jiggling helped and I also found it necessary to squeeze the covers lengthwise to get the ends to fit.I fitted the second cover using a flat bladed tool (putty knife and a smaller oil paint pallet knife) I used these to help slide the cover between the carpet and the vent. I found that this technique made it even easier to fit the covers.I pushed the front seats all the way forward to give ample room to work and also removed the secondary mats from the back so as not to foul on the covers whilst inserting them between the duct and carpet.Don't forget when fitting that one cover is a left hand version and the other a right hand version.FITTED: The covers pushed between the carpet and the air vents and were held securely in place by an interference "sandwich" fit between the carpet and vent plastic (viz friction). The covers can easily be removed and could be kicked out BUT it would need to be a deliberate kick aimed in just the right direction. It is unlikely that they will come off through normal use.LOOKS : The colour matches the carpet and the covers add to the quality look of the interiorCONCERN: The only concern I have is that the vent may offer some restriction to the flow of air but this is yet to be tested and proved to be a problem. Given that the back seats are not used regularly any reduced airflow which these covers may give is not a problem.
