This set of 2 bowls with accompanying spoons and chopsticks makes for an interesting gift-set for anyone who enjoys the Japanese-themed aesthetic. I have the ‘XL’ bowls and they are quite large - more like a serving dish than an individual portion bowl if you ask me. The bowls are also heavier than I was expecting - which is good from a stability and solidity perspective, but maybe less-so if used in traditional ramen-eating bowl-in-hand eating habits.They have a textured outer design that gives them some visual interest, and makes them feel hewn from something earthy and natural.The accessory spoons and chopsticks are a kind of varnished wood. They look nice but whether they are your choice of serving and eating utensils will be a personal choice. By including these they make the bowls feel more like a gift-set. If I were getting the bowls for myself I would probably have chosen different accessories separately.Overall, they are a solid and weighty pair of attractive and well-made bowls. The XL size is a little larger and heavier than expected for individual portion bowls so is in my mind more suited to a role of serving dishes, but they do that job well and should be durable and long-lasting.Packaging note - I would prefer it if they didn’t come in polystyrene as that stuff is a menace.
