I purchased this lid as a replacement for a tub we use to store chicken feed at the suggestion of Rubbermaid Customer Service. We could not find a lid at our local tractor supply to replace our previous lid and this was an excellent solution to our problem. Why didn't I check Amazon first to begin with? The lid securely attaches to our Rubbermaid feed tub - it stays outside and keeps water and bugs out. If a wild animal tried to open it, they would not likely be able to get it off. The lid is sturdy and and functions perfectly for our needs. Glad this product is offered separately on Amazon, we did not want to buy an entire new tub and lid.

Raccoons were having a feast every night with my rubbish. I've had the Rubbermaid Brute trash barrels for some time but never purchased the matching covers because of the expense (the lids cost about as much as the can AND lid of a typical residential plastic bin.)Now I know why, it's because they're worth it! Several nights each week my trash was turned onto a varmint buffet. I would securely fasten the lids, weight them down even double bagged. Didn't matter, every morning it'd be the same mess. I finally ordered these covers but my expectations were not high. I was wrong. The Lids for the Brutes are as tough and well made as the barrels. The latching design of the lids is not obvious but works perfectly. You secure them at night, they're still tightly attached in the morning. The raccoons have not gotten a crust of bread since. I know this is a long winded way to recommend a trash can cover but they make Me smile every morning as I wonder whether the coons are getting skinny or have found another guy who hasn't realized what a bargain a trash can cover can be.

The trash man or someone in the neighborhood absconded with one of my lids. I got tired of pouring rainwater out of the can. This beats drilling holes in a perfectly good can.Fits a "Brute" commercial 32gal can perfectly. It also fit an old Rubbermaid 32gal (brown) home can. I bought 2.The lid(s) I received were different from the picture. There are two patterns shown for the various colors. The pictured one was flat (this is what I had). The one's I got are slightly domed with segmented ridges (the other picture). They are Rubbermaid branded. I guess they changed the design. It's a trash can lid (that fits), so who cares? I mean really, my cans are grey and brown, I bought the green lids because they were cheaper.
