I like to do woodworking and around the house DIY projects as well as most of my own vehicle mechanic work. Fixing my own stuff is enjoyable with the right tools at hand. Finally I have a properly made step bit! I've reviewed many step bits and for anything but soft sheet metal they're not too effective.This on the other hand is DONE RIGHT! It uses M35 5% Cobalt High Speed Steel (HSS-Co) to allow drilling in stainless (use a lower RPM under 550) with a good lubricant such as EVO DYNE Cutting Fluid. And this actually has a 1/4" Hex shank to prevent the bit spinning in the chuck. Hooray! The straight 2 cutting flute design helps clear chips/swarf as I drill. The bit is sharp and each step is labeled. It has its own plastic tube box.This is not a cheap bit but it is about time that a great quality HSS-Co step bit shows up. Cheap step bits are a dime a dozen and not worth using. I do note that the bit I received has straight flute style not spiral as shown in the listing. Great way to get multiple metric-sized holes out of a single bit. I don’t often need exact metric holes - imperial equivalents are often good enough. But sometimes you need an accurate 10mm hole, and then this unit is worth its weight in gold. I like the spiral design - seems to cut better. Good product
