Helikon-Tex Guardian Chest Rig - Cordura US Woodland

I got this in M81 and the color is spot on. I think it is a good value for the money. You can fit 6 standard GI or pmags in the three pouches in the middle of the rig. The side gp pouches are big enough to hold GI canteens or a nice ifak. I keep a canteen in one pouch and an ifak in the other. There are pouches on the back of the mag and gp pouches. They hold a beofang radio with ease. Overall it is a very functional piece of gear.

While this has Helikon-Tex's name on it, the tags say that it was made for them in Vietnam. Which explains the quality. The quality is very good for Asian made but not to the same standard as their European made gear. The rig IS shiny and glows under IR. A quick wash with Sport Wash detergent fixed the issues. Some have complained about the crossed harness but it is not sewn, so if you prefer an "H" harness pulling one strap out of the loop on the other gives you straight straps. Add an inexpensive sternum strap (or make one) and you have an "H" harness!

This appears to be a great heavy chest rig. Canteen pockets work as advertised. I’m thinking one canteen and one IFAK for now. The holster and pistol mag pouches are crap, so I removed them. I’m still giving this five stars, though, because they’re pointless to have on a rig like this. I suspect I’m going to need to replace the straps with an H harness, but I’ll run it stock for a bit first and see.Helikon Tex is excellent. This is not my first purchase from them and it won’t be my last.

Perfect for what it's intended need is. I used it this weekend and it was more than expected.
