We ordered the turtle design. I did this together with my 5 year old daughter. I mixed the resin, she did the design. We had fun doing this together. Overall, happy with the results and we will be setting our finished stone in our garden.ABOUT CONTENTS:The set comes with ceramic stepping stone, some plastic tiles, resin with mixing tray, glow in the dark glue, tile picker upper, pipette, and disposable gloves. The instructions are very thorough and well written for kids (with clear pictures). It tells you exactly how to mix the resin and for how long. It tells you how much resin to put inside each section of the turtle, how to use tile picker upper, and what steps to do when. Two thumbs up for instruction. The recommended age is 8 and up but I would recommend a little older if doing on their own. I could not imagine my 8 year old son mixing resin on his own. There are some things I wish were better. I wish the set came with real tiles made of either glass or ceramic, or even stones. The plastic tiles just make this more childish. I know this set is designed for kids, but the results could have been so much prettier with natural materials. The included resin is just enough to cover the surface so that the tiles lay on top. I would have liked a little extra resin to pour over the tiles as an option. My kiddo wasn't as careful laying tiles over and got some resin on top of some tiles and even managed to sink some inside the resin. It would have been nice to have the option to cover the whole thing in resin. The tile picker upper is the same style as those used for diamond painting but did not work as well on the tiles. We struggled to pick up the tiles and grabbed our tweezers instead. The included pipette is standard issue, with volume markings, which are important to know how much resin to put in each section of the design. Unfortunately markings are hard to see, especially if there is some resin inside the pipette. I recommend getting a permanent marker and mark the lines before using it. The gloves are just a plastic liner and sized for an adult hand. The set does not come with any kind of cover to use as a surface protector. Which I think is an important omission in this set as the resin can be messy.ABOUT THE PROCESS:We followed instructions to a T. I have experience working with resin so I know proper mixing is a must. I suggest to warm up the two bottles of resin in warm water before pouring it out into the tray. Don't get any water into resin though. Make sure you get the resin out from each container as much as possible, they have to be equal in volume. Mix for 3 minutes, this is important to thoroughly mix it or it will not cure properly. Using pipette, pour out the resin onto the design according to instructions. We added resin to each section of the turtle at a time, but I don't recommend doing that. My daughter took her time laying out the tiles. By the time we got to the main body, the resin already started to set. It was getting thicker and harder to pour out of the mixing tray.Laying tiles is fun and easy. Lots of room for creativity. After that, set the stone somewhere flat and wait for the resin to cure. It cures faster in warm room conditions, but 24 hours is a recommended wait time per instructions.UPDATE:We loved this set so much we got another one, butterfly version, for my niece as a birthday gift. She loved it!

So my kids are 6 so a bit young for this but I grabbed because I knew it would be a fun project to do as a family. And it sooo was! The resin was super easy to mix but a little cumbersome to dole out in the dropper provided. And this gal was a bit concerned about putting too much or too little and then making a permanent mess! But we made it work. We have a VERY involved fairy garden and decorated garden so I was able to emphasize patterns with my kiddos. Also teaching them about something that will be with us for a long while so we want it to be nice.I set up our project and they were pretty instantly ready to roll. Along with the dropper being a bit of a hassle the tile grabber thingy was just ok. Eventually we found our hands were better. Ok the kids switched off using the thing d mom used her hands. The stone itself is not really a stepping stone but decoration which the instructions tell you. And it has some imperfections but that’s ok it’s going outside. I did go ahead and try to put the resin along the stone to cover our smudges. And after a day it looked beautiful! We have a fun handmade mosaic! Love it!

My craft obsessed kid (age 4) is not at all in the recommended age bracket for this (8+) but winter is long and she loves mosaics and glow paint so we gave this a try.I actually love how it turned out! The turtle shape is recessed into the stone so the crafter is guaranteed to have a turtle at the end of the activity. The glow in the dark paint is a fun touch! While I didn't have an eight year old on hand to test this, it's worth noting that I would be shocked if any age of kid could complete this turtle independently. The manufacturers must feel similarly since the gloves provided are large for an adult. The toughest step is measuring the resin into the arms, legs, head, and body of the turtle. A disposable pipet is included, but the resin is viscous and adheres to the plastic of the pipet, making it challenging even for me (in my 30s, with lab experience) to measure the resin into each basin with either accuracy or precision. I could draw about 2 mL at a time, and the body called for 10 mL. (Absurdly, the instructions gave the volume in hundredths of ounces, with milliliters in parentheses, but the pipette was sensibly marked to 0.5 mL!)I estimated for the arms and legs and poured the remainder into the body. This did work out okay in the end despite taking more time than I appreciated.Mixing the resin was easy enough that my 4 year old could do it, and she could technically transfer the tiles with the stylus after I handled the sticky stuff, but she quickly lost interest and demanded that I complete the tiles to make it look like the box. There are more than enough tiles supplied to make a turtle that looks like the box.My kid was more excited about using the glow paint the next evening than she'd been about doing the tiles. There is more than enough glow paint, too, and excess is easily wiped off the stone while wet. It lost some volume as it dried but still looks good and does glow delightfully!Overall this is a decent craft for an adult to do with a patient kid, and the product looks nice enough to feature in the garden. The instructions do note that it is meant to be decorative, and should not be used as a stepping stone.
