The extender end loops over the original button on your clothing and the button on the waist extender then goes through the original button hole. This then extends the fastening on your clothing if getting a bit tight.As to longevity (through wear) I am unable to comment as I have only recently received the product. However, you get ten extenders in the pack, which for the price (at time of review £3.99) is good value for money.

You get 10 extenders in the box. The extenders are made from a standard "Jeans" type button attached to a 1¹¹⁄₃₂"/3.4ᶜᵐ long silica gel expander. The expander is a mid blue colour & remarkably strong & flexible. The expander has a slot running along its centre that you can fit the existing button of your jeans/trousers/skirt through. Then you simply use the new button in the buttonhole of your garment.Just to see if it worked I "daisy-chained" a couple of extenders together & this means you can bridge a larger gap. In theory you could keep going, but it likely means your zip wont stay fastened as it'll be too wide at the top.They're hardly visually noticeable in use, though if you're semiconscious you could wear a belt or T-shirt over it. Having them means I can now wear a couple of old pairs of jeans that I was uncomfortable in. I could still get them on without the extenders though I had to loosen the button for comfort if sitting for long periods.No price listed at the moment but if I remember they were under £4 for a pack of 10. Great value as it means you don't have to buy new clothes & can get full wear out of things. So good for the planet as well as your bank balance. Great little things to have about.

Ok, less face it, a lot of us have times where we’ve put on a big more weight than we should. You want to put on those linen trousers from last summer but - oh no! - they’re just that but too tight for comfort. Yes, you can maybe make an effort and slim down into them in a couple of weeks but you’d really like to wear them now - and it’s a waste to just go out and buy them in a larger size! What do you do?Well, here’s the answer. Very simple, effective and not really obvious to anyone else (especially under a belt). You have a standard jeans-type brass button attached to a flexible rubber ‘button hole’. The button home is a rectangular strip of rubber with the button hole slit cut into it. The rubber is flexible so you can get it over a button without having to fight it but it’s not stretchy, so you don’t get the length of the extension ever-widening. It gives you maybe an extra inch to your trouser waistline but keeps them buttoned securely and the extra space isn’t enough to jeopardise the zip fly staying up.Very useful, especially in an ‘emergency’.
